Where did this year go? How is it already September?! We only have three months left of the year, but I still thought it’d be fun to just check in and recap some of my favorite books in 2014.
Winner of the most surprising award—as in, I didn’t expect to like this book. I wasn’t a huge fan of Eat, Pray, Love, so I was delightfully impressed by Elizabeth Gilbert’s ability to hook me with her quirky Victorian heroine.
The chilling and raw account of life from a ten-year-old Zimbabwean girl’s perspective. So, so good.
Don’t laugh. I know, it’s not like me to love a YA book this much. But this book just made me happy. And that’s good enough for me!
#2: Calling Me Home
I love a good cry. This is the story of one couple’s tragic love during 1960s segregation.
Yep, she did it. Despite not liking Harry Potter, I have to admit that J.K. Rowling is a master storyteller. I give in. I loved it.
